MSU-IIT Celebrates Charter Day ‘08

Different departments and colleges from MSU-IIT all gathered as one last July 12, 2008 at the MSU-IIT gymnasium to celebrate the school’s 40th Ruby Anniversary.

Before the program started, a motorcade was conducted around the city with floats and vehicles from different participating colleges and departments. The program which was held at the MSU-IIT gymnasium then started after the motorcade. Speakers from different colleges and departments were invited including the Region X undersecretary of education Hon. Manaros B. Boransing. Several known performers also performed in the said event. Among these were the Octava, IPAG Dancers and D.I.P dance troupe. The program ended with the singing of the University Hymn.

GuhIT Goes National

LOUIS MARK N. PLAZA, an MSU-IIT IDS IT Instructor,  attended the Third National ICTs in Basic Education Congress held at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City last September 10-11, 2008. The theme for this year’s congress is Curriculum, Pedagogy and the Challenge of the 21st Century Learning. The congress was organized by the Department of Education (DepEd), Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development, Inc. (FIT-ED) and the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). Mr. Plaza presented his paper entitled “GuhIT 2008: A Project-based Approach to Teaching Digital Literacy”. GuhIT  2008 was a special project of the first year high school students (SY 2007-2008) at the MSU-IIT IDS. It is an offshoot of the Intel® Teach Skills for Success curriculum on digital literacy that has been adapted for their Information Technology 1 subject.
